  Middle School Artists Accepted into Prestigious Summer Program

  Middle School art teacher Julia Sapir shared that students Retta D (6th grade) and Piper W (7th grade) were selected from a competitive pool of candidates to attend the prestigious this summer. Mae T. (7th grade) was choosen as an alternate. Congratulations to all three of these talented artists. Check out their artwork: Piper's Kroger at Sunset, watercolor; Retta's Bunnyfly marker and watercolor.

  Senior Artist's Portrait Part of Local Exhibit

  Congratulations to senior Laney B on having her painted self-portrait accepted and on display at The Jefferson School City Center's exhibition "In the Sanctuary: A Celebration of Black History". The exhibition includes work by artists of all ages and backgrounds. Laney's painting has been sold but will continue to be on display at The Jefferson School throughout this month. The self-portrait was part of her work in Amanda Nelsen's Art Capstone class.

  Alum Ceramacist Teaches Students about Glazes

  Students in Amanda Nelsen's 3D Art Class had a guest artist speak to them this week. Tandem alum Margaret McNett Burruss '83, an artisan potter and website designer/technical consultant for artists who runs Muddart Studios, came to teach them about glazes. It's always wonderful to have alumni return to share their experiences, passion and knowledge with our students.
